What Is Heel Pain?

Heel pain is a common foot condition often caused by overuse or increased strain on the foot. One of the most frequent causes is plantar fasciitis, which can develop when you suddenly increase the intensity or duration of physical activity or switch to more challenging surfaces. While plantar fasciitis is a leading cause, heel pain can also result from other underlying issues. If the discomfort persists for several months or does not improve with at-home care, a professional diagnosis may be necessary to identify the exact cause and determine the most effective treatment.

Common Signs You Shouldn’t Ignore

If you’re experiencing any of these, it’s time to get professional care.
  • Sharp or persistent pain in the heel
  • Swelling around the heel area
  • Pain that worsens after physical activity
  • Difficulty walking or standing comfortably
  • Changes in daily routine due to discomfort
  • Changes in daily routine due to discomfort
Failing to address these symptoms may allow the condition to worsen.
