Why Weight-Bearing Imaging Matters
Some foot and ankle conditions may appear differently when you are standing than when you are lying down. Weight-bearing CT imaging allows your physician to assess the alignment and spatial relationships of the bones and joints while your feet and ankles are supporting your body.
The pedCAT system can capture both feet during the same scan, helping your physician compare the affected side with the opposite foot and evaluate your anatomy from multiple angles.
What Can Weight-Bearing CT Help Evaluate?
Your physician may recommend a weight-bearing CT scan when detailed imaging is needed to better understand the structure, alignment or condition of your foot and ankle.

A partial foot scan may take approximately 20 seconds. A bilateral scan of both feet may take approximately 48 seconds.
The system can perform scans in a weight-bearing standing position or a seated position. Your physician and imaging team will select the appropriate position for you.
Imaging both feet allows your physician to compare their alignment and anatomy under the same weight-bearing conditions.
pedCAT uses cone beam CT technology designed specifically for detailed imaging of the feet and ankles. Your physician will determine which type of imaging is appropriate for your condition.
