Image result for durant injuryKevin Durant has been said to be the best basketball player right now and he just got injured last night. It doesn’t look serious, but an MRI is scheduled.

He suffered a non-contact injury after a baseline jumper over Houston’s Iman Shumpert. After the make he started running down the court and immediately felt pain. Durant’s own bench thought he may have suffered an Achilles’ tear that would have sidelined him for months.

Because of the history of Achilles tendon tear an MRI would be the next step.

A lot of the times a calf strain can be also a tear of a small muscle in the back of the leg called Plantaris. It is treated with rest and immobilization. We treat both injuries surgically and non-surgically.

If you are suffering from any injuries or are experience any kind of pain in your feet call us today.

Image result for ryan zimmermanThe Nationals have placed Ryan Zimmerman on the 10-day DL with a plantar fasciitis injury. Zimmerman suffered the injury making a leaping catch on Tuesday against the Rockies. He took a day of Wednesday and played on it Friday and Saturday. He then received an MRI on Sunday because the pain started bothering him. Manager Dave Martinez said they are going to get him treatment and keep him off it for 10 days.

Even though I’m not a treating physician for him, I would speculate that since he’s taking 10 days off, it’s probably either Tenex or Tenjet procedure he is having. The recuperation is about 10 days for either procedure.

They both provide the following:

  • Quick pain relief
  • Rapid return to normal activities
  • Local anesthetic used instead of general anesthesia
  • No sutures, no stitches (requires only a small, adhesive bandage)
  • 20-minute, noninvasive procedure (not open surgery)
  • Coverage by most insurances

Celebrities are like you and me and they sustain injuries just like we do.

As see in this picture here, multi Grammy award winning singer, Ne-Yo cruises around on his knee walker nursing his injured foot.

It is unclear if he had a fracture that is not healing or maybe a partial Achilles tendon tear and he decided not to have surgery.

Either way this type of injury along with many others are treated by Dr. Wellens and Dr. Jaramillo-Dolan at Central Florida Foot and Ankle Center.

Regenerative medicine is widely available for professional athletes, celebrities but also to patients of CFFA and most likely will be utilized in the recovery process to facilitate the healing and shorten the duration of rehabilitation.

At Central Florida Foot and Ankle Center, LLC we use regenerative medicine daily to promote healing and shorten postoperative recuperation time. Call us today at 863-299-4551 to learn more about any of our procedures.

Here at CFFA we specialize in foot and ankle fractures and we know exactly what to do to get people better under optimal conditions.

We offer minimally invasive and noninvasive procedures as well as surgery.

This is not the first injury Neymar sustained in the past 12 months . His fifth metatarsal fracture required surgery last year making him miss one of the most important matches of the season.

Once the bone heals up, even in the best case scenario, after the surgery and plates and screws are replaced, the bone never heals with 100% strength therefore making people more prone to reinjury and future fractures.

Due to the high impact nature of soccer, reinjury is more likely.

Once reinjury occurs, we try not to perform surgery the 2nd time as there is a higher chance for avascular necrosis process which means that the bone does not get adequate blood perfusion and can necrose and die.

If I have to make an educated guess, I would guess that his fifth metatarsal fracture this time is in the neck of the fifth metatarsal making it more likely to heal on its own without surgical intervention.

Fractures take approximately 4–6 weeks to heal. But it takes 10 to 12 weeks for an athlete to feel confident to return back to physical activity.

If you experience any foot pain or problems call us today so we can help.

At Central Florida Foot and Ankle Center, LLC we commonly see partial and complete Achilles tendon tears. Obviously, in situations with complete Achilles tendon tears in professional athletes, surgical intervention is necessary as soon as possible. Surgeons utilize different techniques and graphs to repair and reinforce the tendon during open surgery. Percutaneous Achilles repair surgery is becoming more popular as well.

Even though I am not a treating physician for Brandon Brooks, my opinion is he probably underwent surgery within the first 48 hours of his rupture. He will be required to be non-weightbearing for four weeks after the surgery and extensive physical therapy. Most likely he will walk with a limp for at least six months and it will take him nine months to a year to recover from this injury. There is always a question about complete hundred percent recovery as muscle weakness is common

We hope for his healthy return back next year.
